Nobody should go without basic necessities with food being one of those basics, While this is true for anywhere in the world, it's especially true in a nation as rich and prosperous as ours.

 Hunger is unacceptable because there is more than enough food to go around.

Hunger is only acceptable when a scarcity exists. That we today throw away so much food when others must go without is absolutely appalling to me.

Thank you, Tyson, for helping to curb this trend in Austin and across the world.

    Hunger is unacceptable.  There are plenty of people out there in the U.S. with food going bad in their refrigerators!  There are many people in the U.S. who have a surplus of what they need to survive.  We need to give back the the community, and the food bank is a great resource for facilitating this change.

Hunger is unacceptable because it is too easy to help those who need it. Right now in Texas, there are unnecessary roadblocks for people seeking assistance for food, and the people perpetuating these roadblocks have lost sight of how hunger can devastate a family. Most of us can't imagine what it's like to go without a meal because we can't afford it, but for an increasing number of Texans, it's a very real situation. So while the state government continues to deny people their right to the support they need, the rest of us need to step up and do what we can to help our hungry neighbors. 

Maybe it's true that each of us is responsible for our own success, but none of us can achieve success or even self-reliance without first having the basic needs for survival. 

Thank you, Tyson, for recognizing this and leading the way.

Hunger is unacceptable...enough said!

Hunger is UNacceptable because food is essential to live. I am able to successfully work, think, live and enjoy life because I have food to nourish me. I am thankful for what I have, but I know others are not as fortunate.

 Hunger IS unacceptable, and it's wonderful to see a company like Tyson take such a positive action -- especially in these tough economic times. Posterity will judge us harshly if we are willing to allow the less fortunate among us to starve in the land of plenty.

In a nation of such excess that we throw away literally tons of food and other things that could still be used, it is absolutely unacceptable that anyone should go hungry.

Hunger is unacceptable, especially in a country so prosperous!  Sure, the economy isn't doing so well right now, but we should still do what we can to share what we have!

Hunger is unacceptable in this day and age.  We're smart, innovative, and motivated - every day I see examples of creative social change ideas put into practice by people all over the world - it's time to focus on alleviating hunger, spotlighting ideas that work and replicating them.

How can people live up to their potential if one of their most basic needs goes unmet?

• Over 3.1 million people in Texas don't always know where they will get the groceries or money for their next meal
• Approximately 874,000 Texans may suffer from outright hunger
• An estimate of almost 1/4 of Texas children (over 1.4 million) live in food insecure households
• Texas has the 2nd highest rate of food insecurity in the nation

Hunger is UNACCEPTABLE! No one should have to be food insecure. Defined, food insecurity is when you are so limited in resources to buy food that you are running out of food, reducing the quality of food that your family eats, feeding your children unbalanced diets, or skipping meals so your children can eat.Thank you Tyson for working with the CAFB and helping Texans!
